Is the ElMo gone forever?

Toronto may be saying farewell to an iconic kitschy landmark - El Mocambo, or as many like to call by its nickname, The ElMo. It's an iconic bar and entertainment venue where the likes of The Rolling Stones, the Ramones, Elvis Costello, U2, and Queens of the Stone Age have played before. Now, it's up for sale for almost 4 million dollars. The venue has had many different owners over the years, but now the fate of the Elmo is up in the air. Toronto could be loosing this slice of rock history to real-estate development, depending on who buys it. In the real estate ad, it's even listed as having "redevelopment potential!" - so they seems like it could really push for a buyer to knock it down for condos. So here's to hoping the city gets to keep El Mocambo and the property falls into the hands of the right person.

Here's a link to the real estate listing. You could even see it in black and white here that it has "redevelopment potential." http://i1.wp.com/ajournalofmusicalthings.com/wp-content/uploads/Elmo-for-sale-2014.jpg

     What are your thoughts?
