Spotlight Band of the Week: SOLIDS

Lately I just can't get enough of Montreal band, Solids. I became acquainted with their music through one of those "free music download" cards at my campus cafe, and that gave me a chance to hear a sample of their music before delving into their latest album, "Blame Confusion" (released Feb. 18, 2014).

Their musical style is indie-alternative, but its sound is reminiscent of 90s grunge band, Dinosaur Jr., especially heard in their song, Haze Away (the music video is featured
below). If you like a sound that is polished, yet intentionally rough around the edges, this is an artist you will love. Their music is upbeat, and this starts right from the beginning of their album; their first song "Over the Sirens" starts up the album with a kick of energy, much like chugging a Red Bull. For a two-piece band, these guys  sure have a good sound.

The band has been active since at least 2010, and this could be seen on the hefty list of past shows on their Facebook page. Four years later, and their fan base is still growing.

Currently they're touring North America until the end of March, and are actually playing The Silver Dollar in Toronto as I write this post!
