July/August 2013 marks 30 years that English band The Police's hit song, "Every Breath You Take" was number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
For eight weeks in 1983, this rock band's song stayed in the number one position off the "Synchronicity" album.
The song won lead vocalist Sting "Song of the Year"
and won The Police "Best
Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals" for this song at the 1984 Grammy Awards.
Presently, Robin Thicke's pop song "Blurred Lines" is number one on the Billboard Hot 100 - quite the different musical style than number one 30 years ago.
